@steveinoz8188 Well, they eliminate tailpipe emissions, however, the making of an EV is far worse for the environment than the lifetime tailpipe emissions from a regular car. One estimate that was quoted in the WSJ said that an EV battery needs to last 75 years to make up for the pollution created by the mining and manufacture of the battery.

To the point of "fuel savings", my spouse tracks all our spending and our joint fuel costs for the year was $2,000. Insurance was more than that. As I keep pointing out, fuel is one of the smallest costs for running a car.

@romanpolanski4928 In the US it's the same issue for the same reason. It's a big continent, and Americans like to travel. In the US most people are coming to the conclusion that EVs are meant to limit travel, which is a dream of the left.(lol on your name)

@InternetExplorer-s9g EVs can run on normal tires That technically true, although they wouldn't last long. The significant weight of the batteries in an EV wears out tires much more quickly than an equivalent normal car. In addition, EV tires are far more expensive as well.

@HomesteadEngineering " EV's are the future. You can count on it." They may be, but not in the present early development form. They really do need to make batteries last for 25 years, and they need to get energy density in batteries much closer to the energy density of gasoline/diesel. There are no batteries even in labs that can do this at present. If they succeed, it won't be with battery chemistry based on lithium.

@InternetExplorer-s9g And yet Pitrlli says: "“Developing a tire specifically for electric vehicles requires a number of considerations you do not encounter when working with internal combustion engines,” said Ian Coke, chief technical officer at Pirelli North America. “Electric vehicles are heavier, have more powerful and faster acceleration off the line, and require lower rolling resistance.”"
