@MrSmithUK Petrol cars don't explode, they burn, and they burn at such a low temperature that a household extinguisher can put them out. EVs cannot be put out once they burn. They simply let it burn itself out.

@mrbig7718 Sometimes on older cars if the fuel system leaks under the hood and drips on the exhaust manifold a fire can result as well, but these would be poorly maintained vehicles.

@mrbig7718 but it has happened. You're thinking about a v engine where there is a valley, but there is no valley in a straight 6 or 4. It's rare, but it's dishonest to say it never happens.

@mrbig7718 And yet I've seen such a thing happen in traffic. Fire under the hood at a red light for a car in front of me, and the only thing the person could do was get out and watch it burn. I don't know the reason since I was late for work. Yes, it is rare, but it happens. And please note, I'm not an EV person, I think they're actually terrible for the environment, and ultimately much more expensive over time.
