  3. Every week, we hear about a "breakthrough" from a "lab" for a completely new type of "battery" that within the year will surpass gasoline as a fuel for car. And you feel like a killjoy when you point out that the time from lab to being placed into a car will take at least a decade, probably longer, assuming that costs are low and full-scale production is simple.
