  1. He was being polite to Starmer. No one in the US takes him seriously, although we are concerned with how your own country is being taken over by foreigners, and even more concerned over how your government is jailing people for speaking out against it. We're looking for a spark from the British people that they actually care about their culture.

  2.  @itsmarmalade  The original quote is mostly correct; and while money gives you soft power but if the common people see the nation providing the money as propping up a bad government, the money is a mistake. Sort of like giving a little comedian in $300M and he uses it to enrich himself.

  3. In the US we've always found the Europeans charming when they talk about International laws and courts. And the reason that Eisenhower didn't support Europe in the Suez is because the British and French created the current chaos in the middle east during WW I, and particularly what the British Empire did to Egypt.prior to that.
