  3. The only extended warranty worth considering is the one offered by the OEM (the car maker). They're actually cheaper than these third party warranties, and they almost mirror the original factory warranty. The catch is the dealerships themselves don't like to sell them because there's almost no margins on them, but you can go to other dealers and get them later. And don't let the dealer fool you; you can get this warranty up to a year after you buy the car. Third party warranties almost never pay anything out, and that's their business model.
