  3.  Icantthinkofaname-qk3fs  The bottom of every body panel was completely rusted away. That's thousands of dollars of body work to fix that. You can't just bondo that up. Bondo doesn't fix rust.

  4.  Icantthinkofaname-qk3fs  yes, if you want it to look like crap. Good bodywork takes time and skill. It's not about me or you learning how to weld (I actually know how), it's about the value of this car. It's worth $400-500 in scrap value. If you spent 2-3K fixing it up, you might get $1K from someone, meanwhile you will have invested in $2-3K in the labor to do it. Nobody works for free, and the shop that employs the person has to make 30-50% marketup or it's not worth their time.

  5.  Icantthinkofaname-qk3fs  There is no economic basis for doing that though. You'd be better off financially taking the scrap value and buying another 20 year old Hyundai that wouldn't have rust. Not even getting into Hyundai's penchant for failing cam phasers that generally make owners junk them anyway.
