So here's the thing about IBM. They moved their hardware business and hosting to their spinoff Kyndryl, moved a lot of jobs to India, and became a consulting & software company. But not a good consulting company, what they do is often half done, and then they blame the client. Their SAP practice used to be pretty good, now it's like a mom and pop shop. Their asset management software is very neglected, and they don't have a good implementation record for their own software. For the people getting laid off, I feel sorry for you that they didn't even get the dignity of your boss giving you the news personally. IBM used to be a great company to work for before 1990, now it's not. Now's the time to reflect honestly... were you the weak link on your team? Were you the go-to person for tech questions? Did your boss keep giving you the best projects? Did you actively focus on improving yourself by learning data and AI? If you're a professional, you always need to learn the latest technologies.
