  1. It may or may not be true, but this isn't the EU. Politicians will be out of office pretty quickly if they try to push this, especially in western europe where the distances between cities is fairly small by US standards. Plus the train actually works well in the EU with frequent runs and cheap ticket prices. Would Clownifornia do it? Maybe, but even there, they would have to spend trillions over a 10-20 year period to go forward with this type of regimented anti-democratic plan.
