  1. It's weird that there was no control room alarm that would have shut down the path to the experiment room once opened and would have required someone outside the door to reset it. This is a pretty basic safety control. Anybody who says "that's overkill" has no place operating dangerous machinery. That said, without making a joke, at the atomic level, your head is mostly empty space.
