@unbreakable7633 It's not congress making local policy. It's the people electing liberal DAs. They told you they'd do this, but you saw a "D" after their name, and that's on you.

@poodlescone9700 "The waterfront at the ferry building is a homeless encampment." That is very sad.

Bingo. You can fund the police to whatever level you like, but if the idea is catch-and-release in the DA's office, it doesn' t mean anything.

WA Governor Signs $9 Billion Tax Hike After Promising Fiscal Restraint To a liberal, that is a fiscally responsible thing to do. Look at what happened in Maryland. They had a Republican governor who left a $5B surplus when he left and Democrat Wes Moore blew through the $5B and put the state in a $3B all within 2 years. I mention this because Wes Moore is the guy the Dems are pushing to be the next nominee. He'd be like Joe Biden, but without the dementia.

Did anyone calculate what the net tax loss to Multnomah County was? And do tax receipts for the county show a drop? Can you add a link to the article you're referring to? Also of interest is the county has a tax of 1% of any income over $125K as a "homeless tax". They didnt' cause the problem, but they're being asked to pay for it.

The true minimum wage is always $0. Zero. Because if people are being paid more than they generate for a business, they will be fired. In DC, the waiters were against the minimum wage laws, explaining that they make more with tips than the minimum wage. But Democrats were smarter than they people they supposedly represent. It's amazing that anyone would vote for a democrat. When I was in Seattle several years ago, restaurants put signs on the door saying "We proudly pay our staff a living wage". And they added a several dollar service fee to pay for it. And since they were making a living wage, I declined to tip them, assuming they would be insulted.

It sounds good on the surface, but the problem is that California also has the largest concentration of conservatives of any state. They're just overwhelmed by fuzzy-brained leftists that would vote for block of wood (which they did with their governor) if it had a "D" next to it's name.

Two things... First, in the old west, the men could actually aim. Second, Insurance is for disasters, not for the DA and police not doing their job. Of course insurance will cancel if you keep claiming every week. Sorry to say it, but Seattle shop owners need to just move to a different state. At this point your government views you as the people who need to bear the brunt of crime. If you stick around at this point, it's your own fault.

I realize people have a strong association with what/where they consider "home". But at a certain point, when an area is dying, you leave.

Actually what will happen is they'll raise taxes more to subsidize people who can't pay the taxes. That sounds crazy, but to a liberal, that makes perfect sense.
