  1. The true minimum wage is always $0. Zero. Because if people are being paid more than they generate for a business, they will be fired. In DC, the waiters were against the minimum wage laws, explaining that they make more with tips than the minimum wage. But Democrats were smarter than they people they supposedly represent. It's amazing that anyone would vote for a democrat. When I was in Seattle several years ago, restaurants put signs on the door saying "We proudly pay our staff a living wage". And they added a several dollar service fee to pay for it. And since they were making a living wage, I declined to tip them, assuming they would be insulted.
