If Fauci had any sort of care beyond himself, he would stand back and say "I've become a lightening rod, I'll stop being the spokesman because I've now become a distraction to the mission of public health". He wouldn't even have to leave, but he's now so taken with himself and wants to defend himself so badly that his fragile ego is in the way. For that reason alone, he should be fired. He no longer exhibits good judgement
