  27.  @brittislove  The effects of the pandemic are, in my uneducated opinion, coming close to an end It was only this year (FY25) that we've stopped sending money to states and local government and a lot of states now have huge budget holes since the federal government stopped sending billions to these governments. Every blue state (and some red states) has been on a steady diet of federal government sugar for five years and they will either have to cut spending or raise taxes.

  48. She was offered a book deal at a minimum. No idea about a threat, although it's possible. But book deals are a standard way to pay off people. You give them a book deal including a ghost writer, and then a political entity buys say.... $5M worth of that book. They just throw them away, but the net effect is to transfer money to a person legally.

  49. As someone who has been a consultant decades ago to the federal government, I never saw federal workers do anything with this much effort. The poor dears will probably have to sleep the rest of the week. That said, I'm not happy that people will lose their jobs, but we're running out of money in the US. We have a $35T deficit, and unless we cut expenses and expenditure, we will fail financially as a country. Then everybody will be out of a job. If this gal is as good as she says she is, and she's willing to relocate, she'll find a job pretty quickly.
