@SharkAttackSkinder ...the kid overpaid for that supra. He would have done better going private party.
11
@Tewthpaste What could you possible tell about a car from sitting in the passenger seat? And how old were you when this happened?
11
@DeanBKK Oh? How many Ferraris have you bought that you know this to be true? What dealers do is ask for your license, they run a credit check to figure out if you can afford it.
5
@TheHarryleemartin "That's not California." Oh. Which stores are Rubios closing in other states?
3
@TheHarryleemartin So the cost of labor has nothing to do with the viability of a restaurant?
3
@TheHarryleemartin you know nothing about business. The irony meter just went off the scale.
3
@TheHarryleemartin I've run a consulting company for over two decades, and I possess 3 degrees (from prestigious east coast universities) Labor costs are the biggest costs in running a business. Anybody who claims to have run a business and doesn't understand that is just a bullsh*tter. Why do you think so many businesses are fleeing California and moving elsewhere? Huge market, lots of people with money, and you think they're leaving is because their business model is terrible. And yet the model works everywhere else.
3
@steverinaldi890 There's so many used BMW's that's it's weird some people will fall for it. At least you had the common sense to walk.
2
@ticenits1926 If you think a credit check means "850 is great", then you don't understand how quickly you can be sized up from your driver's license.
2
@ticenits1926 Let me get this straight... you sincerely believe that your driver's license is not linked to all your financial information? Okay.
2
@Pin-Din7 Yea, when you're trying to diagnose the fuel system or even the evap system, if you can't click the relays on or off, you're going to be firing the parts canon and not be very successful at it.
2
@scottlepot It's curious that you'd agree to buy a car without driving it. As in, you've never driven this model before, but a salesman telling you "I can't let you drive it for some made up reason, but you can ride along with me" Even if you order a car, you drive it before you accept delivery.
2
@JRcalifornia Well, it's not just that it's $20/hr, it's also the employees there have no real skill. The value of a person with no skills is not $40K/year (which is what $20/hour works out to) it's closer to half that.
2
@ango586 His point was that if you can't afford to stay in california, move to where you can afford to live. Don't expect the government to subsidize where you'd like to live.
2
This is really on the voters of California. They apparently believe they can get the government to force those evil companies to give them a "living wage" (which is a nonsense phrase) and it will have no consequences. Enjoy.

@Pin-Din7 First I don't work for any car dealer or manufacturer. "Can't they tell something with the suspension is off simply by riding in it? Steering wheel unstable? Rattle at the back that usually as driver comes to the front" No. Not unless he's a trained mechanic or has rebuilt suspensions. He's a sheep waiting to be sheared. I'd at least show up with my scanner to let me know what faults the dealer is hiding, especially one that sells nothing but used cars, who generally buy cars at auction. As soon as a dealer won't let you drive it, go someplace else or buy from a private seller who let you take it to a mechanic who can evaluate it.
1
@robertstone9988 I've never had a problem test driving any car. Generally they hand me the keys and let me drive it where I want it. They don't even come along.
1
@ticenits1926 Yes, that's exactly what happens. Maybe you deal with Podunk dealerships who still do "paperwork"?
1
@Pin-Din7 An OBD scanner is $30. I have the kind that has two way control of subsystems, so I can even diagnose on the spot.
1
@charlessavary7211 Damn strait.
1
@rustybros Dealers have insurance specifically for this eventuality, they have to, or else they'd never get financing for their floor plan.
1
@donaldobrien9171 You can but when you scan it, it will show up as pending.
1
@ticenits1926 You mean about dealers copying my license and they let me test drive by myself? It happens all the time. It's weird you keep denying that's what happens. I mean really crazy weird.
1
@ticenits1926 How little you know about how all that information is interlinked. Maybe the dealers you deal with don't use computers.
1
@scottlepot I don't like my own posts, Everyone likes my posts. Ironically you liked your own post, which is funny. "When did I say I bought a car from a dealership without test " If you don't sit in the driver seat, it's not a test drive, it's called "being a passenger". So if I picked you up hitchhiking and you sat in the passenger seat, you'd say "Hmm, some great guy let me test his car!"
1
@scottlepot If I picked you up in a car, and let you sit in the passenger seat, would you say that you did a test of my car?
1
@Landis_Grant Nobody would except kids who don't have money and have to take whatever the seller demands. You'd understand why some guy driving into the Porsche dealers lot with a clapped out Civic might elicit some skepticism regarding a test drive. And yes, there are some very expensive cars out there that you probably can't just walk in and test drive. And there are limited edition cars that you simply don't get to drive regardless, like a Koenigsegg CC8-50, because they have limited runs that require a commitment to buy as they're made. But even for a 911, yeah, you can test drive them if they have them in stock.
1
@Landis_Grant No, except is correct in that sentence
1
@scottlepot But you get to inspect it before the auction, pull the dipstick on the oil and tranny fluid listen for strange noises in the engine and depending on the auction they may let you attach a scanner. But they also can't hide conditions at the auction. If they list is as "full runner no codes" and it doesn't match you can return the car. If it's listed as "no returns, condition as is", then it won't fetch as much at auction, but it can't be returned (all depending on the auction of course).
1
@scottlepot Because you seem adamant that you're some sort of automobile whisperer who can sit in the passenger seat and diagnose a car's issue with uncanny accuracy.
1
@scottlepot Well you won't answer any questions, and you get offended when asked if you can diagnose every fault in a car from the passenger seat. So yeah, we're done here, because apparently your butt is the really smart. I would never argue with you with that kind of butt.
1
@RealKevGotEm So was the payment too much for you?
1
@diegoflores9237 "Funny how you never complain about ceo salary increases" Oh, so anybody can do a CEO's job? Why don't all the workers who are now jobless apply for his job?
1
@HeadsUpNorth If every fast food eatery closed down it would actually improve the health of society. So they'd go to more upscale restaurants then? Which ones would they go to?
1
Recycling stopped years ago once china stopped buying our trash. But once a government program is in place it's virtually impossible to get rid of it, even if the original purpose is gone.
