@YouSuck921 A big guy in your face is enough to claim self-defense. Here's an experiment. Go up a random guy and start putting your phone in his face. Not a pansy-man, but an actual man. Let us know what happens.

@EbonyPope it wasn't just an annoyance, it was harassment from a large man who could have killed him with a single punch. If you harass an adult man, you're lucky to get off with a good *ss kicking. And nobody's life was taken.

@timhuson4800 The phone is not the threat in this case. It was the presence of a 6'5" man in close proximity acting irrational with a buddy close by. Making this an even stronger case for self-defense is he retreated, said "stop" three times but the big irrational man started following him.

@timhuson4800 I didn't say the "presence" of a 6'5" person. A big, big guy was in his face. He was acting irrational, he was shoving something in has face, he was doing crazy stuff, he had a group of guys with him, egging him on The man said "stop", retreated but the gang of people started following him. He said "stop" two more times, but the group of men headed by the crazy big guy was following him. Perhaps you would have taken your beating feeling that you did the right thing. And before you say "but they didn't beat him", He had no idea what would happen next. Perhaps you you are prescient and knew the outcome before it happened, but you're the only one with that gift.

It's about the perception of imminent harm, not a magic criteria that "all men are created equal" If a 4 foot child gets in your face, that's not same thing as an Offensive Lineman from a pro football team getting in your face. This guy was a big guy who, if sufficiently provoked, could kill you with a punch.

@EbonyPope You might be dead or in the hospital for months after getting punched in the face. Real life isn't like grade school fights where one guy throws a clumsy punch and you tussle on the ground. Men die in real fights all the time. If your jaw is shattered, it will change the rest of your life. Do you think he could have outrun the two guys who were there to find security?

@henrybarragan42 We he supposed to wait until he got punched in the face? A 6'5" guy and his buddy are shoving a phone in his face, intentions unknown. He doesn't owe the perpetrator a broken cheek bone to determine intent.

@jpcmt1721 So let me get this straight. The 5' 8" guy overweight guy was "allowed" to kick the 6'5" guy's *ss. Can you explain your reasoning here? "you don't get to just shoot people when your life is not in danger" How do you know when your life is in danger? Does he have to wait until the big guy punches him in the face breaking his cheekbone and jaw? Or is there something prior to that which would tell him that his life was in danger?

@brittybee6615 I would use the word "credible threat". Because in that clip, the big guy appeared to be irrational.

@EbonyPope Assault is not touching someone. Please understand the difference between assault and battery. If you walk up to someone in a menacing way, that is assault. In that situation, if he were to touch him, even to lay a hand gently on him, it would be battery.

@Wytedevil It's these kinds of people who vote for DA's not to criminalize shoplifting, then are appalled that their favorite stores leave their neighborhoods. They imagine it must be corporate greed, or business being off. They don't see a correlation between letting people act like animals and a decline in the quality of life in their town.

@belladupont6777 How did he know he didn't have a knife or concealed pistol? And as mentioned, one punch from the big guy would send you to the hospital. You aren't required to get punched in the face before you defend yourself.

@belladupont6777 The large crazy guy wasn't "acting suspiciously" he was completely in the guy's space, and following him with his 3 buddies. He became an active threat at that point. It's weird you're defending a guy who plainly has mental problem, uses his size to intimidate people, and appears to be about one insult away from stomping someone as a "prank".

There's a distrubing video on twitter today of a guy on the street of New York with his GF and sketchy guy walks up to him stabs him with no warning and then moves on (it will probably show up on YouTube with the stabbing part redacted)

@timhuson4800 The guy did retreat, the threat was hands in the face from a large apparently crazy man. You're obviously no lawyer, you've probably googled something. The jury got it right.
