  1. The kind of degree makes a significant difference. Degrees in teaching, sociology, librarian or something similar doesn't have a lot of currency with employers primarily because if you think about it, you don't need a degree to do those types of degrees. On the other hand, if you have a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software engineering, Accounting or Business, then you'll find a good job and if you're really good at what you do, you'll get promotions that will pay handsomely.
