@M167A1 Well, one of two things will happen. Either people will revolt and elect representatives who have some common sense, or they'll leave the state. And generally the people who a state are the ones who pay the taxes.

@bobwadsworth4799 Plus, many of the problems you bring out (charging times, battery energy density) are science problems, not engineering problems, so they won't magically get incrementally better. Lithium batteries simply won't work to get us where we need.

@MacAdvisor 2050 before a real shift begins. Lithium batteries are too costly, cannot be charged quickly and don't have the energy density needed. And it's not an engineering problem it's a chemistry/science problem.

@floydjensen8308 The smart play is to get a 250 or 350 class truck with a diesel engine. That will be running 25 years from now. The current generation of electric cars will not last 25 years because when the battery goes below a certain threshold, the cost of replacing the battery will be 2-4x what the truck is worth. I'm not even getting into the initial purchase price.
