Assuming an illegal immigrant has 2 children, you'd have to get $40K from the family in tax money to break even. To do that in California, you'd have to make a minimum salary of roughly $200K/year. based on publicly available data

  5.  @rndmphotgrpher  If there was a quicker process, then immigrants wouldn't be crossing the border illegally But you have to factor in if people can actually be self-sufficient. If you try to establish residency in Mexico, they ask for $30K up front. I'm not suggesting that, but I am suggesting we have a merit-based system for entering the US that would include the ability to not require state or federal aid to live in the US.
