When you stop a pipeline, and browbeat oil companies to stop investing in a resource, the price goes up immediately, because the market understands you're artificially limiting supplies of crude. In addition, the administration has been pressuring banks and capital funds to stop financing the drilling and distribution of crude oil, so nobody is willing to invest money without a loan to build out the wells. The honorable representative from Alabama has it exactly right. The administration complains when they do create new sources of oil, and then complains when the prices go up. It's like Democrats are counting on the left hand side of the bell curve to support them, and people who have never actually run a business.

There is a difference between speech and conduct. The first amendment protects the first, it does not protect the second . It's what the nominee said, and Kennedy said, yes, that's correct. This isn't hard stuff. In fact, a high school senior should be able to answer that question.

Just being motivated without facts and data get us to the point where we are today where we have solutions (generally about banning guns of one sort or another), but without data to understand if these laws will actually do something. But we pronounce the problem fixed, except it's not. Maybe the doctor could do a study why a pistol in the city is 10 times as likely to be used in crime as outside the city. But one gets the impression that people really don't want a data-based answer to that question.
