  2.  @michaelselzer8529  Oil reserves take a long time and a lot of money to develop. When you stop a pipeline, and browbeat oil companies to stop investing in a resource, the price goes up immediately, because the market understands you're artificially limiting supplies of crude. In addition, the administration has been pressuring banks and capital funds to stop financing the drilling and distribution of crude oil, so nobody is willing to invest money without a loan to build out the wells. The honorable representative from Alabama has it exactly right. The administration complains when they do create new sources of oil, and then complains when the prices go up. It's like Democrats are counting on the left hand side of the bell curve to support them, and people who have never actually run a business.
