@harveyryan9395 It is. The executive branch has no authority to move debt of a few people to other people.

@vancedguy5702 Literally it is. Get a job and pay back your loan.

@shinokiba They're already getting SS disability checks.

@JediTiga The vanced guy has a student loan for going to school for 2 years, flunked out and is angry that he is expected to pay back the loan.

Well, a bachelor degree requires that you satisfy base requirements for any student so you're well rounded in history, arts, math, economics, as well as your specialty. If you just wanted a nursing degree you could've taken the 2 year degree.

This administration spits in the face of normal people who just go to work, pay their taxes, and just wants to be left alone.

@lalaisis5126 Tax receipts belong to the people.

University degrees are so expensive BECAUSE the government subsidizes them with easy loans for the students. If student loans were prohibited, probably half the universities would fold, and the other half would go back to basics like they did prior to the 1980's.

@n.9483 Of course it does, and it shows why everybody needs to understand economics. If you walked into a university and they were charging $50-60K/year and you had to pay it out of your own pocket, you'd look for cheaper alternatives, because you probably don't have $240K to pay for a four year degree. The rational thing to do would be to go to a community college for 2 years at minimal cost and then finish your four year degree at a small local college charging 1/3 as much. But if you know you can get loans, you'll pay the $240K, because you're young and inexperienced, and don't understand that you're taking on the equivalent of a mortgage with no ability to pay it back. College costs would have to drop because nobody except the wealthy could afford to go. College costs have gone up at twice the rate of inflation because the government is making money flow like water to universities.

If they wanted to help, the government would get out of the loan business, sell the loans to debt collectors and everyone would live happily ever after. Except for the deadbeats.
1
@shinokiba So perhaps the deadbeats can join the military and put their lives on the line so they can earn that benefit as well. P.S. Military pay is pretty lousy, and you are expected to fight a war. They hand you a rifle and tell you to kill the other guy before he kills you.

@n.9483 Well, that and 50% of the people in college would never have made it in classes from 20+ years ago. They are students who colleges are stealing money from. I was recently finishing up a master's degree and I asked the professor for a critique of my paper and approach. And she looked horrified. I laughed and asked her what was wrong. She said "today's student's don't want real criticism of their work, they're looking for affirmation that what they produced is the the best, and any real criticism generally produces a complaint to the dean". So no, a large percentage of the student in universities don't belong there.
