@allysonbeaulieu7351 Since the concept of "sin" comes from Abrahamic religions, you don't just get to pick and choose your sins. Shall we follow the rest of the Bible or the Torah? No abortion, no homosexuality, slavery is okay, a man can take many wives... You get the picture Pray tell us why only you get to pick the sins to care about.

@mykemech In terms of what they pay, the people in lower 50% pay almost no FIT, and don't pay nearly enough to pay for their own social security or medicare when they retire. No matter how you slice it, the top 10% is paying everyone else's way through life and that includes their social security and medicare COVID taught us pretty well that when the government pays you not to work, a large chunk of people will take that option. You need to have about 60% of the people paying significanatly, and it's good to have everyone contribute something so they grasp that if you want benefits from other taxpayers, you have to chip in as well.

She's too lazy to try to sell things to people.

@atticuswalker8970 When Democrats profess their love for the good old days when the top marginal rates were 90%, I'd just point out that the guy earning the $1/hour was also paying 10% in taxes.

@atticuswalker8970 People making under $50K a year pay no income taxes. So your example is just silly. People who make under $50M a year can't afford a yacht, and hiring one person to help on a yacht would cost you (after paying all the taxes and insurance) $100K/year. You sound like a guy who earns minimum wage and is angry that the rest of the world doesn't see your genius. Maybe they will someday, and I say "May the odds be ever in your favor". What you should be doing is either improving yourself, or at least thanking the 10% paying your way through life.

@mykemech What this comes down to is if you're saying to congress that a whole class of professional and productive people aren't paying their "fair share", then don't act like a jack*ss when someone asks what a fair share is. I am saying she is morally wrong. I'm willing to listen to her arguments, but she won't make an argument. She simply claims it, proving she's not qualified to speak in front of the committee.

@watchmeplayenergy281 I don't disagree with anything you say. We're spending on an government also that actively targets normal people and encourages mentally ill, and twisted people. In reality, government should have no opinion on social matters at all.

@geraldhammond3260 Agreed. That's why they should be put in the corner until they learn to answer the question, or simply say "I won't answer that question"
2
@emcdonald10 Once the idiotic member of OMB said "they need to pay their fair share"So the obvious question was asked. What is a fair share? And she refused to answer. So the rotund lady from OMB was being disrespectful as soon as she said "Fair Share".

@atticuswalker8970 Go back and read what I said carefully. Your lack of comprehension is why you're not one of the 10%

They should be able to banish the person to the corner until they're wiling to answer the question. The FBI people would never show up again, since they never answer a single question. Ever.
2
@mykemech What do you believe the problem is?

What our rotund representative from OMB is saying is "we're more interested in punishing people who are smart and ambitious than tax rates as such" Ayn Rand described this woman very well in her book.
1
@houstonsam6163 The guy sitting on his *ss and has no ambition is complaining about the people who do.... that's what this comes down to.
1
@atticuswalker8970 The you take more from the 10% taxpayers than you contribute.
1
@atticuswalker8970 As the Biden administration has already proven quite conclusively, when you give people a lot of money to not work, inflation causes them to be worse of than before they government tried to distribute wealth.
