@plmn93 Because a V6 is a selling point for consumers. The Accord dropping the V6 option has put it at a disadvantage to the Camry which retains the V6. A V6 gives a much more relaxed sound at highway cruising, and it will give better fuel economy is real-world driving. Overall it looks like a better car than the one it replaced except the exterior is less attractive.

It looks too square now, like the original pilot (which was pretty ugly). I suspect it allowed Honda to make it cheaper to produce as they used that huge C/D pillar to stiffen the chassis. Another backwards move is the screen that pops out of the dash. On the plus side, the hard switch for volume control is a welcome addition. As to "the market has shifted towards the more rugged...", What Honda is trying to do is differentiate it from the far more expensive MDX. Honda doesn't want to cannibalize sales of their flagship SUV.
