  1. So once your car is stolen, the police will essentially throw a net around the rear tires by smashing into the car with a "grappler", at which point the car is probably destroyed and now the insurance won't pay for it since the police did the damage. Unless there is a hostage, if you owned the car, you'd be better off just losing it and getting the insurance money.

  2.  @ravemasterdbzwwe  Yes, but if the police have the license # they don't need to chase which eliminates the danger. The only justification is if there are innocent people in the car. Otherwise, issue a BOLO and make the arrest when its safe.

  3.  @RyanJohnson-pz4tb  That's all insurance. It similar to if the police come into your house and destroy in the name of catching a criminal, your insurance won't cover it.

  5.  @lauralyndickson7056  Once they have the license plate number, going into pursuit makes no sense unless there is a hostage in the car.
