I listened to the entire Romney speech on his website. It was excellent, start to finish. Of course he was mercilessly attacked by trolls, but that's a badge of courage.

The bill could be voted on in the House with a discharge petition. It requires 218 votes. It's an end run around the Speaker. No committee report, and no Speaker involvement. It requires 6 brave sane Republicans. Faster than replacing the speaker. Last time it took three weeks to do that. EDIT. Discharge petition may have some time lapse built in, not the quick fix I thought. A week to do this, a month to do that. Legislation must move slowly by design.

@anthonyloconte7835 I think Bernie voted against it because it includes aid for Israel and he is royally pissed off at Bibi and what's happening in GAZA. I don't know the reasons for the other two no votes, do you?

@neilpountney9414 Context. Pay attention to context. The question was about US leaders' attitudes.

@TheGreatOne-gw7xh Oh faithless one.

Putin grow a pair and withdraw. Easy way to peace.

and the Murdochs. There's our real immigration problem.

huh? Last week Mike Johnson tried to introduce a funding bill for Israel alone without including the other countries that were in the original bill (Ukraine, Gaza, Taiwan ). Seems pretty clear he does support Israel.
1
@benjauron5873 So why do you think he tried to fund Israel? BTW The football analogy was extraneous. Most everyone knows Iran and Russia are joined at the hip, and every last person on earth knows Israel and Iran are enemies who occasionally engage in bombing each other.

I was thinking almost exactly the same thing. Can they not hack Elon's account into oblivion? Will no one rid us of this turbulent CEO's tantrums? ( I read he's giving Starlink to Russia now, BTW ...)

You videos just get better and more valuable to the world every week, Jake. Love the rocking horse on ice. How creative.

@TruthBounty In this instance it is a bad idea for the US to stand on the sidelines while a country we promised in writing to protect is invaded by another country who ALSO promised to protect Ukraine in return for Ukraine giving up its nuclear weapons.
1
@TruthBounty OK. We're at the end of this conversation.

@fishcane1 I believe that if the vote was by secret ballot you'd find a lot more House Republicans supporting Ukraine than you think. But it's true, the House is much worse than the Senate.

There's a thought. A possible motive. Of course, it's also partly that Musk is just a perverse individual with some mental oddities who grew up rich and entitled.

This has been a concern of many Americans since the Secret Service decided to suddenly wipe their work phones memories about two days after the J6 insurrection. They said it was for an update.

With a few exceptions, the same people voting against aid to Ukraine are the people speaking against the border bill that Republicans wrote themselves. It is landmark legislation that Republicans have wanted for over 40 years. Democrats are on board. Why aren't Republicans moving forward on it? Because Trump wants it in chaos as a talking point for his campaign. Our country can do more than one good thing at a time. If you're depending on FOX to tell you this stuff, you won't find it there.

He said it while in office, and he has reiterated that recently. Legal questions arise as to whether the President can do it. Congress passed legislation to prevent that, but Trump is a specialist in ignoring the law.

I know the feeling. Used to dislike him. Now he's looking like a real statesman by comparison.
