That's the total number of Chinese service men ever sent to Vietnam throughout the war. For the US, that number is 2.7 millions. At the highest point of the war, there were over 500,000 US troops on the ground, so China's number at a particular point in time would be around a few ten thousands, not the whole 350,000. A few tens of thousands number is about equal to the number of US' client states' troops sent to Vietnam concurrently but the Chinese only do logistic, no combat duties like US' soldiers and its running dogs S Korea's and Australia's.

At the highest point, the US had over 500,000 troops at the same time. So the Chinese might had about a few ten thousands at a time, not the whole 350,000. Those few ten thousands was about equal to the number of US' client states' troops but they only served support roles in fighting or building stuffs, not in combat. China would keep records and brag about it like they've been bragging about material support if they did send combat troops. The US must have known about it! Your friend's uncle must have been seeing things or lying! Your hear-say is totally BS!

@belluh-1huey102 People mistakenly think that 350,000 was the number of Chinese service men present on the ground in Vietnam at the same time. That's not true. That number represents the total Chinese service men ever sent to Vietnam for the whole course of the war (about 10 years). The number served at one particular point in time might only be about one tenth of that!

China did that for its own good but now you're talking as if it's all a high and mighty noble favor with nothing gained in return! China only helped itself because it didn't want another US client state propped up right at its border! Not because it cares about other countries! The Chinese and Americans are at it right now but you're very much the same, full of yourselves! The US could make a move on North Korea because North Korea STARTED a shooting war into South Korea in the first place. North Korea put itself into the villain role and so the US had all the support, from the UN, its allies, to its people. In Vietnam's case, the US was always the aggressor. It had already been wrong when it put troops in South Vietnam. There's no support from the UN, its big allies, only the minions. The whole world was against it! The American people also didn't like it at all. They burned the US to demand US troops out of South Vietnam so how tf could it mount an invasion into North Vietnam?! Heck! they couldn't even control South Vietnam at all! They only had the cities! The fact is the US has failed even to invade half of Vietnam, so how tf could it invade the other half and win?! Are you following the news? Have the US invaded and won Afghanistan yet after over 20 years?! And the Taliban has no outside help!

@VT-mw2zb In 1963, HCM was 73 year old and not really in good health. He has never held or accepted the party chief chair too so how was there a 'power struggle' like you're imagining?! The party chief don't decide everything but through majority rule in the politburo. The power then is divided between the party chief, the prime minister, the president and the head of congress. They didn't work for money too, but with a single goal of kicking the US out, so what did they struggle for?!

@maximme If there was 'Chinese PLA died to support VietNam independence and freedom', they must have names and China must have record of that! Show it! Let me sum things up this way so you can easily understand. China helped Vietnam in the war with the US. China got in bed with the US in 1972 to turn against the USSR and Vietnam. China backed the Khmer Rouge to attack Vietnam from 1975 to 1978, had continued to help it politically and diplomatically for 10 years after it was deposed by Vietnam. China robbed islands from Vietnam in 1974 and again in 1988. Vietnam still has not done anything actively against China. And Vietnam is the ingrates?! The USSR also helped China too! But at the end China slept with the US and betrayed it! You are THE nation of ingrates!

Pol Pot or Mussolini just simply claimed to be a socialist because it was very popular back then. That didn't mean they were! @damagejackal10 Why Deng's book is automatically true but another person's account is automatically false?! The title of the book proves he's so full of himself so I don't think he's a good source to get info from. Vietnam's army, the PAVN, was created in 1944 and had fought fought the French for 3 years (1946-1949) before the CCP defeated the Kuomintang and had control of the whole mainland China. The PAVN also participated in Chinese Civil War across the border on the side of the PLA too so how can he say he 'built' it?!
