Case in Melbourne yesterday of a 68 year old women in care after taking Astra Zenica. Blood clots in the brain perhaps needing surgery. Went to local gp with headaches etc . GP said go home. Lucky she had a husband not accept this and so take her to hospital. My reason for AZ hesitancy as I have no one to detect these possible problems. In Melbourne recently there seems to be more AZ serious issues than virus issues. System not we'll set up to defect and treat issues like this. Especially for me with little travel outside my home needed and then with your four precautions. Seems quite a while until the non AZ alternative vaccines become widely available.

Had my first Pfzier injection on the 13th of October. In Melbourne it was so much of a mass six patient production line with a doctor that there was no opportunity to ask about aspiration. No side effects at all nearly two days later but then again I always use a seat belt in a car despite never being in an car crash in about a million kilometres of travel.

Since about 2008 , my doctor has suggested I have daily doses of D3 and B12 due to recurring long lasting chest infections. I took his advice and have been doing this daily with those annual infections disappearing. A few other things as well. Very glad of his advice and my annual D3 test levels are very good. Amongst his annual checks for me.

Recent AZ reaction in Melbourne https://youtu.be/sU8veu7acKM Adding to many before seem to be more than virus issues kept under control largely. Medical officer later who is pregnant makes sure she gets non AZ jab unavailable to elderly me on my own for many months. Some of my reasons to wait for non AZ.

Dr John , do you have any comments on the trajectory of Covid cases in the Australian state of Victoria? https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus-covid-19-daily-update The time series data is available under one of the 10th "Whats new?" dot point or as (if it works) : https://app.powerbi.com/view?r=eyJrIjoiODBmMmE3NWQtZWNlNC00OWRkLTk1NjYtMjM2YTY1MjI2NzdjIiwidCI6ImMwZTA2MDFmLTBmYWMtNDQ5Yy05Yzg4LWExMDRjNGViOWYyOCJ9 Despite Victoria having about 26% of Australia's population, and earlier in the year having less than this share of cases, we in Victoria are now so far above 26% for every bad measure : https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-health-alert/coronavirus-covid-19-current-situation-and-case-numbers Much higher levels of restriction have been introduced to try and stem this likely overwhelming of the health system. Certain of the worst affected aged care facilities have had the reduced staff unaffected by Covid overwhelmed with the result that high care residents were reported to be left unattended for hydration, nutrition, medication and assistance with hygiene for days at the height of facility collapses. So bad flow ons from this even without a Covid infection of a resident.

Some confounding factors may be important. Hospitalization rates may be influenced by the pressures and resources of the hospitals and staff. Happens for other less controversial illnesses with government funding determining treatment in emergency then home recovery emerging as more desirable than hospitalization. Not convinced this will be a uniform criteria across hospitals in a country let alone uniform between different countries. Infection rates also subject to variations in testing levels and classification between countries. Still need to know about and respond to the issues rigorously though and not just give up because it is too hard.

London higher peak due to highest pop density and activity interactions possibly?

In Australia this may delay many getting a vaccine until they can get Pfizer as supply so limited and none for sixty and overs. Only AZ has reasonable supply but multiple issues. This approval emphasises that there is nothing yet as definite for AZ.

In Melbourne Victoria the people who are not doing fine are those in aged care facilities. In spite of the known danger to aged care facilities known since March at least all around the world we found Covid having a massive impact in the aged care facilities. If the residents did not get Covid they could still be severely impacted by staffing levels reduced to skeleton levels. Impacts were de hydration, mal nourished, lack of hygene or residents not able to care for themselves. Premier Daniel Andrews and other government Ministers including Federal Ministers and Department heads try to dodge questioning on these hugely important issues of why the failure has happened.

I am in Australia and my chemist or pharmacy has available a daily use mouth spray of a mix of K2 and D3. I have been using this spray for about a year after using D3 drops daily since 2008 as advised by my doctor. I use an Australian brand named Bioceuticals. Looking at their website you may be able to ask for an equivalent in Italy. Good luck with your search.

From your detail below the vid eg UK, 14.48 minutes If you use the colon in the time as 14:48 then this enables YouTube viewers to use this as direct timestamp locator by just clicking on the 14:48. Youtube recognises this standard as a time rather than a number. Just some advice to help out with vid navigation. Thanks for all the useful information.

I saw my Australian doctor two days after my first vaccination and he said there is nothing to worry about because there are no veins in the shoulder area. Not really in a position to argue with him but maybe for follow up I should ask prior about blood vessels. The good news was I nearly though he did not inject me since it was so painless and with none of the usual side effects that can occur.

Thanks for your high quality coverage. Although the absence of Australian and New Zealand data raises questions as to is it so good to be not worth showing or some problem in showing but significant.
