Pre war prototypes 6hp . Post war production started at 9 hp. Then increased over the years. Documentary on them : https://youtu.be/Bak50Emxa_M

Two HP is the road tax related calculation based on either piston area or engine size. The actual brake horsepower was much more for all except very early cars pre 1910 or so. UK and Australia used the RAC horsepower calculation, France likely something different. Almost forgotten about now but lasted into the seventies in Australia for road tax purposes.

Gearshift covered in this test of one in Australia. An even earlier 1955 model with an even smaller less powerful motor, but Victorian registered at one stage but now in Tasmania on a tractor museum : https://youtu.be/5GSTZceciTo Not a big seller in Australia but tried in the fifties to cope with rough roads and use little fuel. Possibly inspired by the success of the 1.3 litre Peugeot 203 winning the tough round Australia Redex trial and amazing everyone.

I understand all the Chrysler V8 engines were imported from the late fifties Chrysler Royal V8s then the local Dodge Phoenix to the 273 V8 fitted to the smaller Valiant body. The first Australian made V8 looks to be the Ford Customline of 1953 with 85% local content and Australian cast engine unlike the imported later Chrysler V8 . As per Shannon's history I watched a few hours ago : https://youtu.be/c_lcGAn43cs

@davidcruse6589 as I said all V8 engines by Chrysler were imported. Just installed in local Valiants. The 1952 Ford's were built in Geelong including the local V8 engine, not being imported. And thirteen years before the Valiants importing the V8 engine. Quoting Shannon's : The V8 engine fitted to the AP6 and VC Valiant V8 was fully imported and reflected the latest developments launched in the US in 1964.

A 2CV made it into several movie star roles such as this one from the landmark American Graffiti film : https://youtu.be/YXEg2883VHc One of just three non US vehicles in the film.

The 2CV was the first car with radial tyres I believe. Michelin X tyre. Michelin owning a big part of Citroen.
