And that price was for the base model. 215 smallest six. Dog dish hubcat steel wheels. Likely three speed column change, rubber mats and vinyl seats. No radio. Drum brakes, and a waiting list to get one. But once that price got you in the showroom the salesman could show you several much nicer higher spec ones on the floor for a much higher cost but immediate delivery.. Bait pricing still happens today.

Mopar insider has a story on a 1973 Aussie built Valiant Charger, from the Chicago suburbs, that just sold on bring a trailer for $22,000. Had a Link to this vid : https://youtu.be/2LGevxXbbYc Apparently an Australian bought it and it is going back to Australia. Not the greatest original example but still seems good. A few mistakes in the article. A mystery behind this car. Have seen it with fake Victorian plates.

@johnwhear9600 you would have seen the 225 slant six in all seven year model Valiants prior to the VG release in March 1970 : https://youtu.be/4VtEaBsonb0 So slant six standard in the R, S , AP5, AP6, VC, VE and VF Valiants here. Although Valiant was the first of the big three cars to also have a V8 option. Or perhaps you saw the big American Dodge Chargers where the slant six was standard and gave them a lower priced car to advertise, but once in the showroom the salesman would have an easy job of upselling you to 318 to 440 V8 at extra cost. A few rare slant six US Dodge Chargers did make it to YouTube.

A London car meet with Chargers and a lot of Holden's and a few Ford's including a very good Mad Max replica : https://youtu.be/QejJj43MGBw Although he lives in Wales he imported the Falcon/Fairmont that he drove around New Zealand since he liked it so much. Lots of Australian and New Zealand cars from his visit in 2019 to early 2020. Deserves some help to get him over the magic 100k subscribers. Hubnut has been just under for a while now..
