Brockoff biscuit radio ad before Arnott's took them over in the seventies: https://youtu.be/BeUrnGIDkvU Then Arnott's made their versions after closing Melbourne factories.

Brockhoff silent movie ads from the twenties showing some of the 100 or so biscuit types they made event then ,: https://youtu.be/wqQQMH7jc10 Many of the current Arnott's biscuits came from the takeover of Brockoff. Quite a few more vids in the channel.

Arnott's were unknown in Victoria prior to the mid sixties. Lots of Victorian biscuit companies taken over by foreign owned Arnott's and became Arnott's biscuits like Teddy Bears. Originally Guests Teddy Bears of North Melbourne.

@jenniferharrison8915 still not finding a market for their products in Victoria until they took over Victorian biscuit companies and made Arnott's versions of Victorian biscuits like Guests Teddy Bears.

The Port Melbourne Swallows biscuit factory established in 1854 in a 1932 industrial film : https://youtu.be/fcPd0T7hL3o Another Victorian biscuit company that I think Arnott's took over and are the origin of some current biscuits.

Likely the oldest factory film from Australia is the Port Melbourne biscuit factory workers filmed leaving the factory of Swallow and Ariella, established in 1854, but taken in 1905. https://youtu.be/6cgQQfSqLZY Another taken over by Arnott's many years later.

A rare surviving live ad for Guests biscuits of North Melbourne: https://youtu.be/dU2CGHvuzpY Guests were the originators of Teddy Bear biscuits and Arnott's continued with a version after taking them over.

My understanding is that Arnott's biscuits were unknown outside New South Wales before about 1965. Each other state had their own separate biscuits brands before Arnott's took over companies and lost the recipe and know of how to make very popular biscuits well. Victoria had Guests, Brokoff, Swallow and Ariel, Lanes and Weston's. Mac's shortbreads of Kerang in Victoria are my favourite shortbread. The tin boxes with classic cars on the lid help too. Very collectable. Looking at one with a 78 A9X Torana hatch now. Need to do a taste test of these and Arnott's version.

Brockoff radio ad for their Cheddar shapes : https://youtu.be/PuM03BthvKQ The origin of the Shapes cracker. After the takeover Arnott's expanded the range.

Radio ad for 21 years of Brockhoff Salads crackers in 1975 : https://youtu.be/vbEHx0jYIRM Made in Burwood Victoria as well as lots of other cracker types in the ad. Later taken over by Arnott's who tried to make them the same by annoyed many customers of the originals.
