Leyland name was only after the 1972 takeover and sent local production down hill. By that time the mini was out of production here. All the notable mini race victories here were BMC Morris Mini Cooper S models. Some historic racing may be private import Leyland Minis from the UK.

Link to original vid in description as is standard for Ian.

Morris Mini Cooper S only won the 500 race outright in 1966. But took first nine places. First 500 race at Bathurst was 1963. Ford Cortina GT won and then again in 64 and the the GT 500 model in 1965. The only V8 models the Cooper S beat in 66 was the automatic V8 Valiants and Studebakers. Both let down by drum brakes. Studebakers also had weak wheels. In 1963 a VW 1200 beetle beat the mini 850 in class A for the cheapest cars. The Cooper S later won its class sometimes but never outright again. Cars later had to be recent production but the Cooper S was out of production by about 1971 or so.

By 1965 all the production Cooper S racing were 1275 cc. As was the winners of the first nine places of Bathurst 1966. Relaxed rules in recent years have many taken out to 1410 cc or maybe more.

Perhaps you have a UK background. Never an Austin 7 here. Always sold here as a Morris Mini from the first 850 to the Cooper S and Mini K. Or does the 7 reference come from something else?

@michaelcrane2475 So that's why it sounded foreign to an Australian being a term from NZ. Thanks.
