Great series coverage. At 10:08 the blue car is the Australian built Chrysler Valiant Pacer. More detail on the Pacer story here ; https://youtu.be/dv-1x1sPiTk Always loved how well this underdog car went with its then 225 slant six. Great driver who prepared the car very well to beat so many V8 cars.

This first VF 1969 Pacer used the 225 slant six. Next model Pacer went 245 hemi. Shannon's have detail here ; https://youtu.be/dv-1x1sPiTk Some get confused with the next hemi model.

This is the VF 225 slant six original Pacer unless an engine upgrade is allowed. So even more impressive. Shannon's detail here ; https://youtu.be/dv-1x1sPiTk Common confusion of the first slant six Pacer and the next model hemi powered ones. Amazing that no one remembered this is a smaller slant six.

I now find the rules allowed him to change to larger hemi six in 245 or 265 spec with triple Weber carbs. Still impressive. Recently may have changed to a V8 to get the win Cameron Tilley deserves.

The 265 Hemi six was only raced in the two door Charger body from 1971 onwards that I have ever seen any reference to. Not counting the secret VF ute development mule for camoflauged testing of the Charger running gear. Geoghan doing the testing said it worked better than the Charger being lighter.

At 10:08 the blue car is the Australian built Chrysler Valiant Pacer. First round headlight VF model. @royferntorp3575 compare the car to the Shannon's Pacer in the vid.

My thoughts also about the 225. However it seems this series allows fitting of different spec motors from the same manufacturer. Went 265, 318 and now 400 it seems. Rules allowed changes to keep even racing in the field. Not well publicised rules to help with the underdog does good excitement and encourage variety.

@johnmurray587 The link to the Shannons car history shows the body is a VF. Yes a few V codes skipped as did Holden.

Steven Johnson racing here. Son of Dick Johnson.

The Cameron Tilley blue car started racing with a 225 slant six like this 1969 model Valiant Pacer originally came with but later the rules allowed him to use the much more powerful 265 Hemi in line non slant six as used in the 1972 E49 Charger. Likely fitted in this race. Later he changed to a V8 for more power at less expense. Great series coverage. At 10:08 the blue car is the Australian built Chrysler Valiant Pacer. Amazing that lots of US Valiants had the even smaller 170 slant six nearly unknown here.

@petersargeant1555 further digging showed the rules allowed the later model E49 motor which he likely went with. He had recently gone V8 in it.

It seems an engine upgrade was allowed to the 265 Hemi E49. Still impressive.

Australia may have had the first purpose built car racing track in the world. Much earlier In 1905, James Robert Crooke built the world's first purpose built racing car track inside his pear shaped horse racing track at Aspendale Park, Victoria, Australia The first car race meeting at Aspendale Park, was organised by the Automobile Club of Victoria on 29th January 1906, in front of an estimated 1,000 spectators. Photos and newspaper reports online for more info.

Jim Richards and his Falcon Sprint that he won the TCM series with in 2010 and 2013. https://youtu.be/dquJ6zmaq6w Always up near the front at other times. Jim has now retired from this series. A Falcon but shares close to nothing with Australian Falcons. Australian Falcons of the era concentrated on building strength into the new model Falcons cost effectively. This was due to the US original designs we used for the first two Falcon models had big problems in Australia that nearly shut down Ford manufacturing here. Took the 1965 XP models , unlike any US Falcon, to establish confidence in the Falcon nameplate. Shannon's tell the story here : https://youtu.be/nEkrX1qH5jo

@-sandman4605 the E49 was the later different looking two door Charger from 1971 or 72.
1
@-sandman4605 Surprised that the fat body E49 Pacer existed. All the racing was in the E38 then E49 Charger two door from 1971. Some websites are sloppy captioning photos trying to cover lots of model years in one article. However this one racing is a 1969 VF slant six 225 not a hemi. As per Shannon's vid.
1
@-sandman4605 searching YouTube for E49 Pacer will show mainly the Charger version or some older cars with an engine transplant. E49 Pacer are too rare and unwanted.

@johnvender digging further it is not super clear but it seems the rules allow him to use the 265 Hemi six ; https://youtu.be/kbUT9WD5Sv8 Still high praise from some big names both for car prep and his driving. Latest news is he may have gone V8 for the car. Valiants had the 318 as an option for this model and later the racing weapon 340.
