  1. Ian, the Ford Capri at 15:20 is an Australian designed and made car but based on Mazda 323 front wheel drive running gear. Top of the range was the Turbo model. Came out about the same time as the Mazda Miata/Mx5 or just before. We had high hopes for it as an export car as it was sold in the US as the Mercury Capri. First Australian convertible for nearly fifty years, but many had leaky roofs. Most people paid extra and got the much better Mazda instead. That turbo might be one of the last ones that had the problems mostly sorted out. I think we exported Ford Laser sedans as Mercury Tracers. After those relative failures , Ford Australia were prevented from more US exports and to countries other than the Pacific rim.
