  2. G'day Ian. A land speed record was set at lake Eyre in 1964 by Donald Campbell in Bluebird : https://youtu.be/rqvpcX4HoCg Big news in Australia at the time. Soon surpassed by thrust driven cars. Even the   Bluebird wheel driven record soon beat by Goldenrod in 1965. Built by some California hot rodders building Goldenrod with four Chrysler Hemi production based engines and beat the Bluebird record for wheel driven cars. A shoestring budget, compared to Bluebird, in their backyard fruit shed beating all the resources Campbell put together. An amazing achievement by the Summers brother's setting a record for wheel driven cars unsupercharged that lasted from 1965 to 2011 and then just beaten by another 5 mph. The Summers brother's also had to deal with rain at Bonneville causing issues.
