  1. I am pretty sure it was the first Holden Astra being a re badged Nissan Pulsar. The Toyota partnership came later. Holden trying to keep up with the Ford Laser sales after the front wheel drive Gemini was a disaster. The Corolla in the vid has NSW number plates too.

  2. The 57 was the new 500. Replaced the pre war design front engine four cylinder 500. Loved in the US to convert to a dragster.

  4. The first Holden size was determined by what the average male wage could afford. 25 shillings a week back in the forties. Doco on it on Holden history.

  5. If it's a pre 911 old four cylinder motor then yes. If you can find and afford one. Simpler to upgrade a VW.

  6. Some really early VW Beetles had an 1100 engine. Split oval rear window. Cable brakes and crank handle to start them. Not sure if they had the electric starter as well as the crank handle option. Did yours have the wheel accelerator instead of the flat pedal. Oval rear window or split oval?
