Missed from all these comments is the US Falcon Sprint at 1:37. In the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally the Falcon was fastest on every stage but the anti big engine handicap system made sure the Falcons could not win. So a rally system where the fastest car may not win. A recent vid staged recreation of the event had a Mini Cooper pass the leading Falcon which never happened in the event. So creating fake history for those that preferred it. The real winning move was paper calculations to discount the Falcon Sprint times. Not so exciting way to win a rally.

Mr Parris, since you tried to provide timestamps you need to use the colon : for them to work not a decimal point or full stop ( . ).

G'day Ian. Missed from most of these comments is the US Falcon Sprint at 1:37. In the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally the Falcon was fastest on every stage but the anti big engine handicap system of the French organisers made sure the Falcons could not win. So a rally system where the fastest car may not always win. A recent vid staged recreation of the 1964 event had a Mini Cooper pass the leading Falcon which never happened in the event. So creating fake history for those that preferred it. The real winning move was paper calculations to discount the Falcon Sprint times. Not so exciting way to win a rally.

The Renault R8 Gordini, like the one in your thumbnail, dominated the 1970 Australian Rally championship. Beating the Holden dealer team Toranas and Monaro GTS 350 V8. Pretty good for a 1.3 litre rear engined small car. More about these cars and the mass market basic versions in Australia : https://youtu.be/s5czNGopRfI

1:37 is the US Ford Falcon Sprint. Made a year or two before the Mustang became the Ford performance car instead of an image based secretarys car it started as.

G'day Ian. At 1:36 is a Ford Falcon Sprint from the US around 63 or 64 built. 260 or 289 V8 with lots of lightweight panels. I understand the Falcon Sprint was fastest on every stage when it ran back then but did not win the rally over small engines Mini Cooper S cars. The rules had a handicap system that took the win off large engines cars
