  1. G'day Ian. At 2:40 you asked how the Australian children of the 1800s created the Australian accent. The reason suggested is their parents largely coming from different parts of the UK where even counties have differences in speech and accents. Due to this children of different parentage wanted to fit in as part of a group of Australian children like all the others in their social circles and not stand out stand out like their parents as being different to other parents. This lead to a blending of accents of the children with the most exceptional parts of their parents accents blended out. Soon leading to children developing a blended accent of the English language that was noted as something new, notable and unusual in some of the Newspapers and Journals of the time.
