They Don't want people understanding history because once you understand history, you understand how unjustified all wars have been, and how civilizations have suffered at the will of kings/queens, prime ministers, and selfish president's egos and personal agendas.

  3. You got the Bay of Pigs terribly wrong. It wasn't scaled back to conceal American invilvement. It was haulted due to a political split between Kennedy and the CIA. Kennedy is even quoted as saying such, vowing to "scatter them into a million pieces into the wind".
