Ekiben is overrated yeah.
Queuing is sometime overated, i've learn that the hard way. We waited 1hours and a half for a yaki curry ( 焼きカレー ) at mojiko, and it was overrated! As a french, i didn't know what i was expected, each time i've tried cheese in Japan, it's "okay" at best, "not good" at worste. Maybe i should tried something at a cheese factory (some have store i bet ) but even here, i don't think it will be good enough. My french cheese standard are so high unfortunatly.
Tokyo tower was overrated indeed! Some people sell me to see this because it was inspired by the eiffel tower. I'm sorry but the eiffel tower is far superior, most because the tower is higher than any building around her, unlike the tokyo tower. Also the place around the eiffel tower is designed to put the tower in perspective, unlike the area around tokyo tower who aren't particulary magnificent. Not bad but not amazing like the view around the eiffel tower.
PS: The cool thing about the Ginkakuji in my opinion, is the philosopher path to go here. Yeah it's a bit touristy (way less than the Ginkakuji itself and wayyyyy less than the kinkaku-ji ) but it's nice and allow you to experience Kyoto from a nice path.
