Socrates was honest enough to admit that the more he learned, the more he discovered he actually knew nothing. Creation, existence, consciousness? Once again, I must defer to Descartes. Cogito, ergo sum. I also embrace Voltaire's dictum that the best thing we can do with our lives is to cultivate our own gardens (Candide). Existence implies the right to exist. @lilydewinters4729 Yup, you're far more educated than I am. From my theosophic perspective, I consider myself UNDECIDED. That decision in itself presents the uttermost ideation against the precept of freewill. My freewill decides not to decide. Being undecided, how may I be punished or rewarded by any alleged deities intent on punishing me for my misdeeds of disbelief? In my possibly mistaken opinion, all religion becomes an excuse for salvaging the veracity of previous written metaphysical tomes. I take the hard, logical look at such stipulated allegations which take for granted the existence of gods and souls, angels and demons, heavens and hells. Truth for truth's sake would welcome inquiry. Inquiry scorned hides deception. Always pleasant to discourse with you, Lily! Good health and wealth to you. @craigpenninga9847 If as many contradictions as confirmations exist in the relating of any past events, then the event may be described as "contested." Thereby, a "he said she said" testimony of conflicting witnesses would negate any allegations, making any impartial decision unrenderable. Even the multiple accounts differ, proving lack of consensus.

@ladislavholub3547 Lily might know the answer to this paradox better than me. I've read that the Torah says no man may die for the sins of another man. Yet that is exactly what Christians say Jesus did, in violation of Jewish dogma, and the Jewish god YHWH's dictates. By definition. Jesus is a heretic by defying previous convention. Why would YHWH use such a sloppy method of saving the world from himself? If religions can't spin internally consistent and logical chains of events, they prove themselves errant, and thereby faulty and unworthy of serious consideration. And it's statistically impossible for me to be incorrect 100% of the time in me comprehending such vague mysteries. It's not my fault I lack understanding. It's the books' faults for being so poorly written.

@craigpenninga9847 It seems to be a desperate ploy for attention, obsessed over insisting a specific event of a god begetting a son to die for the sins of past, present, and human peoples for a sacrifice a more omnipotent god could have changed the rules he set in the first place. A more efficient god wouldn't restrict himself by so many useless rules, such as "believe or be doomed." Humans set such demands, not gods. Isn't that rather obvious?

Does your god agree with everything you criticize about science that seems to conflict with that god's dogma? Do you think that you should be automatically entitled to rewards after you die, instead of punishment with no further administrative review? Does your god have the genitalia to create humans after his own image? Does your god have a navel, or does his flowing white robe cover it up? Do you believe this god has children? Do you believe this god even knows who you are?

(Exodus 34:14) There is a simple test to determine if your loving god is a mental delusion or not. Imagine your god's genitals, if you can. Is your god male? Then he'll have a penis. Is the penis circumcised? Does he have pubic hair, and testicles? If your god is too holy for genitalia, then it can be referred to with gender neutral pronouns, such as "it" and "itself." And if your god doesn't have genitals, it can hardly boast that it created humans after its own image. Is your god a eunuch, or a dirty old man? Or have you never spent that much intellect contemplating the uncontemplated?

A perfect god would have a perfect book. Since the book is imperfect, the god must be too. We try to teach you children that you should avoid thinking past mythology means present reality, and yet you persist in the error of your ways. @abdullahanselin8474 Paganism is false. Monotheism is false. Science says that order came from chaos. Religion says that order came from chaos. Second law of thermodynamics says all will return to chaos. What kind of supreme being would create order from chaos, just to let it lapse again? That means if there is a supreme being, chaos is greater than it is. By that logic, it's best to worship chaos. And who wants to do that? So humans invent gods to blame reality on. Thus, gods are fiction.

@ladislavholub3547 Occam's Razor stipulates that the most likely answer is the simpler conclusion. What you've done is quote Genesis to me, which proves nothing. Occam's Razor does more to disprove than prove gods. I'm currently doing research on God's genitals. What color are they? Is his penis circumcised, or uncircumcised? Did he use holy semen to impregnate the virgin Mary's unholy egg? Did he use the Holy Spirit to do this deed in a ménage-a-trois? If God has no genitals, then shouldn't we use gender neutral pronouns when speaking of him, instead of gender specific pronouns? Does God have pubic hair? Did God insert said penis into Mary's vulva, or did he magically fly the sperm into the egg? Was her placenta also holy enough to be saved as a relic? Did Mary have an orgasm during her immaculate conception? Did YHWH climax? If your god does not have genitalia, how can it be said he created humans in his own image? If he does have genitalia, then why does he if he doesn't need them or use them? Do you people ever even think about the crazy ideas you create then cherish?

Modern readers of the Torah and Tanakh can discover many other lapses in logic which discourage veneration of such obviously flawed books. Reference the obvious anomalies at Isaiah, the prophet who mentions unicorns (Isaiah 34:7), satyrs (Isaiah 13:21; 34:14), flying serpents (Isaiah 14:29), and time moving backwards (Isaiah 38:8). The Laws of Leprosy, in Leviticus 14:49-57. On temptation: James 1:13 with gen 22:1. James 1:13 “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:” Genesis 22:1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. Why would a perfect god be described in such an imperfect text? Do your own research, and ask yourself why you'd believe such impossible things to believe.

To pretend you know the intent of what words actually say to ancient Jewish texts, when they're obviously meant to be comprehended as written, is some of the worst dishonesty and deception humans practice on each other. If you had any integrity, you'd be ashamed by the attempt. I refuse to be a victim of such deceit. So stop trying.

@justiceiria869 I understand contradictions in logic. If the texts can't maintain logical coherence in its narratives, all the claims those texts make mean nothing. If the god you worship can't comport itself logically, it invalidates itself. Christians and Jews claim to worship the same god they call YHWH. Jews believe in Sheol, Christians believe in Hell. If the Jews are wrong and Christians right, then Hell is only 2000 years old. If Hell was real, the Jews would have noticed and warned everyone, but they didn't. Only Christians did. Does no one ever consider these massive lapses in logic?

@justiceiria869 Jews don't claim YHWH punishes unbelievers with Sheol. Christians claim the same YHWH god whom they named "God" punishes unbelievers with Hell. That's pure contradiction. Such suspicious scare tactics are only for the schism that Christianity fits the definition of, as well as being a heresy. Now, what real god would utilize a heresy and schism to get a message across that he should have gotten right 4000 years earlier? Why venerate an inept deity?

@justiceiria869 Reading the Bible is what caused me to adopt atheism. From beginning to end, the texts are rife with deviations from reality as humans experience reality. Scriptures contain rather than clarify contradictions and factual errors. Refer to the Laws of Leprosy, in Leviticus 14:49-57. Quite unclarified.

You're defending the indefensible, to explain your visualization of a god you call God that was described in Jewish texts as illogically postulated as earlier Greek mythology. That's not wisdom. So it is wise for me to dismiss. The Laws of Leprosy are primitive medicine that emulates magic, not a true cure of a bacterial infection by Mycobacterium leprae or Mycobacterium lepromatosis. Its own inefficacy is described in detail. As a cure, it proves itself errant.

@justiceiria869 This world is not a creation by a Jewish god. And the books that describe the mind and intents of this god are filled with errors. I can cite verses all day long that prove scriptures are the work of humans, not deities. If your god is so great, why didn't he write the books himself instead of inspiring humans to do it? That's the first lapse of logic your god indulges in. A real god would write his own books, so there would be no dispute.

If anyone can't write on any topic well enough to make it understood, the writer proves himself incapable of understanding the topic as well. Considering these fictional deities we're referring to are all technically ghosts? If the possibility is that no god occurred, then it's any real god's obligation to dispel such fallacies in a bid to remain relevant, or remain silent and affirm its lack of existence. What matters isn't any god's lack of existence, but lack of relevance. Irrelevant gods are inconsequential.

The Bible is rife with factual error from beginning to end. Alpha and omega. The existence of other religious books contradict what the Jewish religious books say. And that itself is no proof of anything other than deceit. If you want proof of errancy, research the laws of leprosy in Leviticus (14:49-57) and try to rationalize such impotent magic yourself. It makes no sense under any scrutiny. We know from 1 Kings 22 that God sometimes intentionally misleads true prophets so that they utter a false prophecy. In Ezekiel 14 God punishes the prophet he previously seduced, because why wouldn't he? There are over 3000 contradictions found. Why would your god allow such mistakes?

The process is called progress. The various denominations of religions reveal a lack of doctrinal consensus. You'll do yourself a favor by calling your god by its real name: "For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God." (Exodus 34:14)

@justiceiria869 I find it suspicious why Jews and Christians claim to worship the same deity, but Jewish doctrine fails to mention the scare tactic of Hell for unbelievers. Nothing indicates a perpetuated fraud any better than the coercion of fear mongering from a schismatic heresy that Christianity is, by the strictest definition.

Jews don't take their own writings literally, only heretic Christians do that. Because Christians understand the schismatic feature of their heresy when it leeched onto the antiquity of the Jews. @justiceiria869 I've read the Isaiah references to hell (Isaiah 66:24, Isaiah 14:15, Isaiah 5:15). They were deliberately vague. I take the words at face value, with all the incredible, unreal, and illogical claims the Jewish texts make, and see how they deviate from reality as humans experience reality. To claim that I misunderstand while you understand is inferring the statistical impossibility for me to be wrong 100% of the time. Such would rather indicate that I'm being lied to, by someone who claims to know that which he cannot possibly know. Your whole attempt to establish credibility of previously written mythos detracts from the contradictions in logic I point out. As is typical, religion has answers for which no questions are allowed. That's not intellectual inquiry, that's the tyranny of absolutism. What type of insane god punishes the majority of humans for the option of disbelief? Only a human-fabricated demonic deity. Not a true god. If there was any reliability to the god YHWH Christians coopted, the Jews would worship Jesus and convert. Yet they don't, because they see Christianity as heresy. Which faith is true? Or are they both mystical, metaphysical superstition? Do you really believe the magical necromancy concerning the Witch of Endor in the first Book of Samuel? Or the Laws of Leprosy in Leviticus 14? Such departures of reality are why skeptics exist.

If you prayed to any deities with the letter J in their names before the 15th century, then your prayer went to the wrong deity; and if it was addressed incorrectly, wound up in the dead prayer office as "undeliverable." According to Jesus Theory, your prayers MUST be properly assigned. If you pray to Molech or Baal, or Odin or Brahma, your prayers go there. To gods that don't exist because no gods truly exist outside human brains. As any convenient fiction would.

For a deity alleged to be omnipotent, he sure created some intellectually stunted believers. One god for 1000 different religions claiming they're the only true one. Does your god agree with everything you criticize about science that seems to conflict with that god's dogma? Does your god have the genitalia to create humans after his own image? Does your god have a navel, or does his flowing white robe cover it up? Do you believe this god has children? Do you believe this god even knows who you are?
