@Exisist5151 You're equating governments with coffee makers, and comparing efficiencies? Governments make money, by mints printing fiat currencies. You rely on the efficiency of the government for that economic fact as well. For every instance you can cite government inefficiency, I can cite one of incomparable efficiency. Without declaiming once how every society deserves the sort of government it elects.

@b22chris Only a grain of seriously, as with a grain of salt. What stumps me is how so many people chide the government for being inefficient, yet trust their national defense to their government's military. Quite contradictory, no?

@b22chris You say that because you're not retired yet. I collect two pensions: one federal, one private sector. Guess which career paid better, proved stability better, and stipends its retirees better? Not private sector. Of course, the industry one toils at may vary between the two. I was a blue collar peon. White collar private sector may fare better, for all I know.

@b22chris Better for the government to pay me a pension I earned than to build more bombers and nuclear weapons. If you plan on never retiring, what's to cause me to think you ever worked hard enough to deserve retirement? "Businesses make, governments take." That's a rather simplistic summation. There's a private contractor taking government funds in the middle of Denver right now refurbishing the I-70 corridor. In that case, as with all infrastructure rehabilitation, where BUSINESS TAKES WHAT GOVERNMENT MAKES. As in, made from taxes. Then paid to contractors. Capitalism is symbiotic. Vicious cycle, huh?
