  2.  @laykefindley6604  I'm not sure I can explain this sufficiently as it is difficult even for physicists! First, there are "static" magnetic and electric fields such as around magnets and charged items like electrostatic machines, etc., these are the familiar fields we usually think of. Then second we have "radiation" of EM energy where the electric and magnetic fields are locked together in phase, and at right angles to each other. The radiation travels in a direction which makes a right angle to both. Think of it like an electric field changing and producing a magnetic field simultaneously. There are some videos on this that might be worth looking at, but only through Maxwell's equations do we "understand" (if we can understand anything at all!) what is going on.
