@RichardBacon-h5x As an exploration geophysicist, I agree with a large part of what you wrote, but lithium deposits are NOT widely found all over the world. Lithium minerals while sometimes found in pegmatites, are not common. In fact mineral exploration companies are busy looking for them all over Europe as part of the "Greenpeg" initiative. Lithium mica is lepidolite, not muscovite. Granite is certainly not considered "slag" and no geologist would ever use that term. Granite is the melt product of Crustal rocks and what floats on top of a melt is called "slag", as in a furnace. The pegmatites might just qualify for that term, so your report is somewhat inaccurate, a problem we tend to have with scientific journalists.

What solid evidence was there against her, apart from "being there" which is circumstantial. I wish the media would report the other evidence. She had no motive and no obvious psychopathic behaviour - very strange. There was a Dutch nurse with a similar first name Lucia de Berk who was also convicted on the fact that she "was there" and also had tarot cards as a hobby, which of course was used to make her look like a killer. Your facts are not right - no "vast" reserves, and not in the USA either! Bolivia controls 50% of the lithium supply. China has reserves too, but processes lithium. Lithium in brine deposits is a lot cheaper to extract than hard-rock lithium deposits in Australia and some other places.

@spencersanderson1894 Why don't you invest in the project and get some of those profits? It could go wrong and you would lose everything, but that is the risk all investors take. The profits are the reward for the risk.

@forthfarean I said "comparable" in the sense that the 1918 virus was also new and the people had no immunity nor a vaccine. WW-1 was in its last year and lots of people were on the move worldwide which helped the spread of the disease. The mortality rate was indeed higher but biased towards younger people. Yes, it is not "the same" as the 1918 but one can make certain comparisons, no?

No, there isn't. Same goes for all metals, there are mines in many places and they have to be able to mine those minerals and compete with the other producers.

It can't be. Metals don't grow on trees in organic farms, they require lots of energy to mine, extract and process the metals for our electricity, industry, food production, tractors, trains, TV sets, computers, hospitals, bicycles .....

Not the lithium minerals. All metals have poisonous compounds. There are poisons everywhere, bleach, petrol, gas, medicines, most plants, some animals too. Even electricity will kill you, and you can drown in water. Ricin is the most toxic poison and it is natural!

The cobalt mines in Congo are run by Chinese companies very efficiently. However in the vicinity, there are artisanal miners panning waste heaps and using their children to pick out cobalt minerals and that is the problem.
