To me Bathurst beats racing of any other form. Compared to other racing on typical circuits with almost flat terrain, and circuits with open and plain corners, clear visibility, even F1, Le Mans 24hr, large loop high speed Nascar, all fail the excitement and skill of this 1000km race. I admit as dro ers settle into the near 6hrs, even Bathurst can many times get into a more procession, but even a tiny lapse of concentration by a driver or simple car part failure very quickly becomes spectacular carnage. As a circuit it is basically only challenged by the Nurburg Ring in Germany, which by the way is open to publc to drive their own vehicle and motor bikes on, or even hired race cars. You do need to get qualified to do so, but anyone can run there following some strict rules too. Check out some Youtube of public driving there.
