Back in 1970s a major US magazine publisher, in that case for me a professional Electronics magazine, was available free to professionals in US, Canada and Europe. BUT to have it delivered to AUSTRALIA was at cost of near US$200 per year. Somehow they must have mistaken my address in Australia as AUSTRIA, as I never got a bill for my subscription that I received from just after mid 1970s till start of 1990s. Say just under 20 years of free subscription. Mailing was via Holland, Amsterdam, that many US magazines get world bulk mailed from even now. The address was always clearly identified as Australia, though probably after first entered into their computers and accepted for free European subscription, never had any persons validating it. Only one exception, that was puzzling at the time, in around 1981, for some six monthly magazines arrived, with mailing label hand modified as invalid BRAZIL address, how it came to go to Brazil from Holland was strange.
So even large corporations can have Australia and Austria mixed up.
