@pixiedust7659 Yes after floods some have been found up to the gorge. But then in floods they even swam in middle of town. Normally the park rangers eliminate Salties in post flood times. There is common swimming at the Goerge reserve.
I have also been swimming at the lower crossing just below the weir, where the Aboriginal kids do plenty of swimming, now there you do regularly see the Salties.
Further on a trip to WA I pulled into Sprinvale Station to camp overnight. I arrived after dusk, and was directed by the office to go a particular path to the tent area near a billabong. Found a nice spot adjacent to a Landcruiser Ute with camper in the tray, and a small mesh tent, but they slept in the camper. I was in a ground level two person orange nylon tent.
During the night, there were noises nearby as ducks raised a rocks, running around. WOW, on getting up after sunrise there were crocodiles tracks within 10m of my tent, and a lot closer than the water at a bit over 30m away. There floating not far from water edge, was a 2 to 3 m Saltie in the billabong, The Camp ground staff were not aware it was there. Yes, I am aware they do turn up in the north.
