Been driving since 1969 and worked in car testing, driving many thousands of km in foreign places, Europe, Korea, Japan, and well over 1 million km in Australia, zero tickets, but one dropping off a handicap person near chemist shop and tail of car still a few feet into a no standing place, blocked by another vehicle ahead, the no standing sign above my roof line and not visible. Had displayed Handicap sign, passenger got out of car with walking frame but female inspector still issued a tocket. I DO NOT ACCEPT THAT as valid. No tickets of any kind, parking, speeding, red light anything....

U turns differ greatly. NSW forbids Uturns at intersections, unless specific signed as permitted. VIC allows U turn at intersections unless firbidden by signage, but not allowed to obstruct other flowing traffic such as lrft turn at side road when you do a right arrow permited turn because the left may have green arrow on the side road on the roght, hope that is clear described. Often though drivers doing a U turn at intersection breach that.
Other states will be similar to these two, but whatever, causes much confusion travelling between states.
As for U turn at other times than intersections, deoends on centre line markings, any solid or doubled solid is not allowed to be crossed similar to passing, dashed line ok to do the turn, BUT you must not cause obstruction to traffic flow, and narrow roads, where U turn is not possible, a standard 5 point turn is required.
Another intresting change a number of years ago, In Victoria, not sure other states, it was made illegal to switch lanes where a single solid line is on the road, such as at intersections where the line dashes turn to solid line some distance back from the intersection, to make iit illegal to swap lanes in stopping zone. Still is often breached, and so hard on trucks with cars suddenly occupying the braking space needed.
