@emilyvickery8081 Most certainly there are numerous floods all over. Victoria had avoided much of the earlier flooding, but this time has been hit hard, and as earlier again hard in NSW YET AGAIN.
No way was I meaning to exclude the prior flooding but highlighting the current new flooding area of Victoria.
La Nina while it remains, possibly another year hopefully not longer, the cycle of floods remain, and USA will continue draught condition. After it leave we will swing back towards draught, and peak draught will return in maybe 3 to 5 years for large parts of our continent, as has been going through out recorded history, and evidently long before.
Seriously, time communities DO NOT BUILD ON FLOOD PLAINS. Nice river side homes are great at good times, but will get wiped out repeatedly. Made worse by land clearing, and directing all rain input by cleared channels into rivers causing higher peaks, over shorter times, where once rain gathered into streams and river spread over longer time spans resulting in lower peaks but drawn out time wise. Keeping the few dams near capacity prevents flood control. Especially in evident wet seasons like this year, foreseen by weather forecasts, dams should have long had level reduced BEFORE new massive rain storms. We must learn and stop the repeated mistakes of flood management.
