The old Paris to Dakar rallies have always been great. Normally all with motor bikes, cars, buggies and trucks. As well as actual event participants, all the support crews and spares have to cover basically the same long "off road" rally course. Breakdowns very common on both competitors and support teams. Due to a number of political and war/insurgent issues in recent years the Paris to Dakar has changed to running in other places, including South America like Chile, and other African locations. To me all the various rally events hold greater interest than all the circuit racing, though racing like Bathurst also can hold interest. But round the oval racing to me is not holding interest for long, tedious round and round they go just does not do it. Rally needs peak performance cars (vehicles of any kind) high endurance and especially high driving skills, not just high speeds, but extreme endurance and skill.
