Are prices on Ebay US include tax or is the state tax added to orders like when buying in retail shops?
In Australia all prices online or retail, must be listed inclusive of all charges, except shipping charges where applicable. Only in sales intended for company to company where GST tax exemption is used by businesses, so price exvluding the GST may be stated, but must clearly state that it excludes GST (that is 10% by the way).
Of course if buying outside USA on US Ebay, the US added tax is not applicable. So in the early example XBox, if tax is added it would be even higher if that over $800 price were monus the fonal tax added, while on AU EBay, the retail price offered must by law be inclusive of GST tax.
GST is a Goods and Services Tax, applicable to most payable transactions of all purchased item and services and fares charges, but some excluded things, including basic foods, but not all like baked cakes, fast food/take aways for example. To us it is massively confusing to go into a US shop, see items priced, go to checkout with correct money, to then be charged more, because the final price is NOT the displayed one. Everyone benefits if price displayed matches what you must pay. No mental gymnastics required "Can I afford it or not" with the money in hand. Go get a soda and snack with some loose change in pocket, and find yourself short at the checkout.
